Almost twice as many people in Germany own a bike as own a car. It’s not just cheaper, it’s also more environmentally friendly!
Umlauts are back!
In German, a few verbs with a or au in them, like laufen and fahren, get an umlaut when paired with du or er.
Ich laufe gern abends, aber er läuft gern morgens.
I like to run in the evenings, but he likes to run in the mornings.
Du fährst heute nach Berlin, aber wir fahren morgen.
You are driving today to Berlin, but we are driving tomorrow.
Notice that the umlaut goes over the a!
