¡Yo soy estudiante!
In English, we say I am a teacher, but in Spanish, you don't need to use a when talking about occupations.
Mi hermana es médica.
My sister is a doctor.

Similar to waiter and waitress in English, many occupation words in Spanish change depending on the gender of the person.
