Let's talk about the Subjunctive!
To form the past subjunctive, take the ‑ron off the ellos form of the preterite, and add these endings!
| que yo | comiera |
| que tú | comieras |
| que él / ella / usted | comiera |
| que nosotros / nosotras | comiéramos |
| que ellos / ellas / ustedes | comieran |
Notice the accent on the nosotros form!
You'll need to use the past form of the subjunctive if you wanted or hoped for people to do something in the past.
Esperaba que comiéramos algo.
