To say you like a single thing, say me gusta. For multiple things, use gustan!
Me gusta el sándwich.
I like the sandwich.
Me gustan los sándwiches.
I like sandwiches.
This goes for all verbs like gustar, interesar,and encantar.
Me encantan los vinos españoles.
I love Spanish wines.

In general statements, Spanish uses el, la, los, or las where the would sound weird in English!
Los osos son inteligentes.
Bears are intelligent.
Nos gustan las frutas.
We like fruit.
