If a verb ends in ‑zar, like empezar or almorzar, the z becomes a c in the yo past form.
Almorcé después de la clase.
I ate lunch after class.
Yo empecé una clase muy difícil.
I started a very difficult class.
Ayer vi a Carmen
The past of ver is quite special! Unlike other verbs, it doesn’t have an accent mark in the yo and él forms.

Encontrar and encontrarse
The verb encontrar means to find.
La niña no encuentra sus lápices.
The girl does not find her pencils.
But if you add me, te, se, or nos, it means to meet.
¿A qué hora nos encontramos mañana?
What time do we meet tomorrow?
