Let’s talk about the preterite tense!
To talk about past actions, ‑ar verbs follow one pattern and ‑er and ‑ir verbs follow another!

Watch out for verbs that don't follow the regular patterns in the past!
tener, yo tuve, ellos tuvieron
decir, yo dije, ellos dijeron
traer, yo traje, ellos trajeron
