French sounds
A lot of French sounds are similar to English ones! Let's look at some vowels.
a
chat (as in "father")
je
je (as in "petition")
i
nuit, pizza (as in "Lisa")
o
homme, gros (as in "or")
To practice the French u, round your lips (pucker up, buttercup!) and say ee.
u
tu, salut (say "ee" while puckering your lips)
Gender
In French, all nouns are either masculine or feminine. Masculine nouns use un, and feminine nouns use une.

un homme

une pizza
a pizza
I think, therefore...
In English, we say I am but you are. In French, you do the same thing!
