En ville ou à la campagne ?
In English, we say we're going to or we live in the city or the countryside. In French, you always use en with ville and à la with campagne.
Je vais en ville.
I'm going to the city.
Je travaille en ville.
I work in the city.
Nous allons à la campagne.
We're going to the countryside.
J'habite à la campagne.
I live in the countryside.
Je vais à la campagne.
I'm going to the countryside.
Je marche jusqu'à la plage
To say that you went up to a place but didn't go inside, use jusqu'à. When you want to say that you went to a place and then went inside, use à.
J'ai marché jusqu'au restaurant.
I walked to the restaurant (but didn't go in).
Je suis allé au restaurant.
I went to the restaurant (and had a meal!).
