We've seen how the imparfait can be used to talk about the way something was. You can also use it to talk about how something used to be.
Avant, j'habitais avec mes parents.
Before, I used to live with my parents.
Avant, on travaillait sans Internet.
Before, we used to work without Internet.

To make the imparfait, start from the nous form, like nous écrivons and nous pouvons. Then drop the ‑ons, and then add the endings listed below!
