Com'è?
You may have noticed that a few words we use to ask questions can get a bit shorter. They lose their last letter and combine with the verb è.
Dov'è?
Where is it?
Che cos'è?
What is it?
Com'è il tempo oggi?
How is the weather today?
Com'è l'appartamento nuovo?
How is the new apartment?
Benissimo!
Do you want to show some enthusiasm? Or maybe you want to add a little drama to your conversations? To say very in Italian, use the word molto!
La sua casa è molto moderna.
His house is very modern.
Non è molto caro.
It is not very expensive.
Another common way to say very is by replacing the last letter of a word with ‑issimo or ‑issima. For example, you can turn bene, well, into benissimo to say very well.
Loro capiscono benissimo.
They understand very well.
C'è
C'è means there is. Pretty neat, isn't it?
C'è un gatto in cucina.
There is a cat in the kitchen.
C'è una mela sul tavolo.
There is an apple on the table.
