When the word e comes before a vowel, you can replace it with ed. You don't have to do this, but Italians think it sounds better this way!
Lui è uno scienziato edun musicista.
He is a scientist and musician.
Studio chimica edarchitettura.
I study chemistry and architecture.

There are not many words that begin with ps‑ in Italian, but pay special attention to them! In English we don’t pronounce the p in ps‑ words (like in psychology), but in Italian you do.
