Colors
Not me
A few verbs in Portuguese don’t have a form for eu. There’s no real reason for it — it’s just not there. One example of this is colorir.
Eu
I | ??? |
Você
You | colore o livro.
color the book. |
Ele / Ela
He / She | colore o livro.
colors the book. |
Nós
We | colorimos o livro.
color the book. |
Vocês / Eles / Elas
You all / They / They | colorem o livro.
color the book. |
So you can’t ever say I color in Portuguese! You’ll have to use a different form that means I’m coloring.
The sounds of R
There are two ways of saying r in Portuguese.
Double r sounds like h, as in hot.
When r is at the start of a word, it also sounds like h, as in hot.
A single r sounds like a light d, like in ready.
