To introduce or to present?
Apresentar a person means to introduce them. But apresentar your work means to present it!
Ele apresenta a mulher.
He introduces the woman.
Os estudantes apresentam seus trabalhos.
The students present their work.
Aparece ou parece?
One letter in a word can make a huge difference! The word parecer is not the same as aparecer.
O cachorro parece doente.
The dog seems ill.
Ela aparece à noite.
She appears at night.
Arruma seu quarto!
Context is everything! The verb arrumar means to tidy up, to repair, or to set up!
Ele arruma o quarto dele.
He tidies his bedroom.
A engenheira arruma o carro.
The engineer repairs the car.
Eles arrumam a mesa.
They set the table.
But there's another way of saying to set the table! You can use montar, which also means to assemble.
Eles montam a mesa.
They set the table.
