Verbs: Pluperfect
Eu nunca tinha pensado!
Use the verb ter in the past together with a ‑do verb to talk about something that you had done.
Eu nunca tinha pensado nisso.
I had never thought of that.

Já ou ainda não?
In English, we can say We had already talked or she had not spoken, but never separate these two verbs in Portuguese! They are always together.
Eu ainda não tinha falado com ele.
I still had not spoken to him.
Nós já tínhamos falado sobre isso.
We had already talked about it.
Ela nunca tinha errado isto antes.
She had never gotten this wrong before.

The verb ter also has a ‑do form: tido!
Ele nunca tinha tido dinheiro.
He had never had money.
