了 for a change in situation
We’ve already learned how to talk about completed actions with (le) (for example, 他喝咖啡) and to use (le) with (tài) to say very, so, or too (for example, 太贵) You can also place at the end of a sentence to show that there is a change in a situation.

For example, you might use
to say I am sick today (because you weren’t sick earlier) or to say She got off work! (because she was still hard at work until just a few hours ago).
我今天生病
(Wǒ jīntiān shēngbìng le.) I am sick today.
我感冒
(Wǒ gǎnmào le!) I have a cold!
她下班
(Tā xiàbān le!) She got off work!
