Using 除了 (chúle, except for; in addition to)​
除了 (chúle, except for; in addition to) is a useful word! You can use it with (dōu, all) to say except for.
除了其他人来了。
(Chúle tā, qítā rén dōu láile.​) Except for her, all of the other people came.​
除了我们认识他。
(Chúle nǐ, wǒmen dōu rènshì tā.​) Except for you, we all know him.​
You can also use it with (hái, else; also) to mean in addition to.​
除了想喝什么?​
(Chúle chá, nǐ hái xiǎng hē shénme?​) In addition to tea, what else would you like to drink?​
除了美国去过英国。​
(Chúle měiguó, wǒ hái qùguò yīngguó​.) In addition to the US, I have also been to the UK.​
Extremely spicy!​
When you want to say something is extremely good or extremely spicy, just put 极了 (jí le, extremely) after the adjective.
这个辣极了!​
(Zhège là jí le!​) This is extremely spicy!​

(Hǎo jí le!​) (This is) extremely good!​
Their dumplings are terrible!​
Remember that (hǎo, good) can be used in phrases like 好吃 or 好看. You can also say (nánchī, tastes bad) to describe food that tastes terrible. It literally means difficult to eat!​
他们的饺子很难吃!​
(Tāmen de jiǎozi hěn nánchī!​) Their dumplings are terrible.​
这个菜很难吃。​
(Zhège cài hěn nánchī.​) This dish is terrible.​
那里的炒饭又贵又难吃。​
(Nàlǐ de chǎofàn yòu guì yòu nánchī.​) The fried rice there is both expensive and terrible.
